Stretch a little; learn a lot ---Yoga Day offers sense of community
4th Annual West Palm Beach Yoga Day tied one on for health

(West Palm Beach, FL) - According to preliminary reports from Yoga Alliance, the West Palm Beach Yoga Day celebration, with over 1400 participants, continues to be the largest in the nation.

Organized by Living Fit Today, teachers and studios from throughout the area came together last week to offer yoga to the community. Participants were treated to a variety of classes including Yoga Basics, Yoga for Stiff People, Power Yoga, and much much more! As an additional treat, this year yogis could also choose from concurrent sessions or kids yoga. These were a big hit!

Here are some of the numbers:
Of the 11 classes offered, the average number of participants for each time period was 162, with two classes having over 200 participants. At one point during the day, nearly 300 people were doing a downward facing dog along the intercoastal. Nearly 61% of those surveyed were first timers to the Yoga Day event. The popular Yoga Marketplace returned with over 30 vendors, including 17 yoga studios offering attendees the opportunity to: learn about many different types and styles of yoga, buy clothing or yoga props, get a massage or acupuncture treatment or get a henna tattoo. And over 500 participants received a goody bag that included: savings off of a PranaSleep Mattress, Natural Awakenings Magazine, Yoga Journal Magazine, Ocean Potion sunscreen, CLIF bars, China-Gel, Yoga + Joyful Living Magazine, popchips and up to $10 off of Living Fit Today classes.

“Yoga Day is the perfect opportunity for people of all fitness levels to try yoga, especially beginners.” says Jerry Jefferson, Living Fit Today and West Palm Beach Yoga Day organizer. “The atmosphere is none threatening and the investment is minimal. For people new to yoga, this is a perfect venue. West Palm Beach Yoga Day brings our community together for a positive connection.”

Special thanks to PranaSleep and Natural Awakenings-Palm Beach, the event sponsors. Their support for the community is greatly appreciated. The event organizers, Living Fit Today, are pleased to provide this free community event to celebrate Yoga Alliance’s national Yoga Day and will begin planning soon for 2011.
