The mission of West Palm Beach Yoga Day is to 1) raise awareness of Yoga and its benefits to individuals 2) provide those new to yoga a non-threatening environment to try yoga 3) remain free for the community. Expanding upon the Yoga Alliance’s idea of a national yoga day, Jerry and Therese of Living Fit Today saw an opportunity to create a unique event in South Florida. Influenced by their passion for community service, they envisioned an event that not only highlights Living Fit Today and its teachers, other local teachers, BUT an event that would bring together the community at large. From a meager beginning in 2007, West Palm Beach Yoga Day has expanded exponentially each year. Encouraged by the 125 in attendance that first year and the positive feedback gave them the incentive to bring it back for another year. Since that first year, West Palm Beach Yoga Day has grown from a 4 hour event with 5 teachers to an event with more variety than ever before. In 2011, over 1400 attendees enjoyed a full day of yoga taught by some of the most experienced instructors in the community. In the popular Yoga Marketplace students were treated to an opportunity to purchase the latest in yoga wear, relax to a back and neck massage, sample healthy snacks, and much much more. According to Yoga Alliance, the West Palm Beach Yoga Day celebration continues to be the largest in the nation and used as a benchmark for other yoga communities across the country. *Living Fit Today (LFT) is a mobile fitness company, specializing in Pilates and Yoga that offers uniquely designed fitness programs by certified professionals for businesses and the community.
